Wireless G Router
With the D-Link DIR-300
Wireless G Router, you can share a high-speed Internet connection
wirelessly, so several people can be on-line surfing, chatting or
checking e-mails simultaneously. This router acts as the heart of your
Wi-Fi network, so you can also share photos, music, video, printers
and digital media players.
Basic Wi-Fi networking
The router adheres the
802.11g specification from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers (IEEE). It can be used with any Wi-Fi adapter or device
based on the older standard 802.11b or the newer standard 802.11n.
Compatibility assurance
The router can be used
with any type of broadband connection, either based on ADSL (no modem
included), cable or ISPs offering telephone or TV services with
Internet access. The Wireless G Router includes four Ethernet ports
ready for you to connect Ethernet-enabled PC, print server and other
devices.
Security
The router includes a firewall that
prevents hackers from entering your network from the Internet. You can
also control which devices are allowed to join the network via the MAC
address filtering feature. Last but not least, parental control allows
you to block certain web site addresses, preventing users from viewing
inappropriate content. This can be adjusted according to the time of
the day (scheduling).
Easy to install
The router includes D-Links
Clickn Connect software (DCC). This wizard allows anybody without any
prior technical knowledge to install the router and connect to the
Internet within minutes. Just by running the product CD, you are taken
through establishing physical connections (power and cabling),
configuring wireless network settings and security and then connecting
to the ISP.
Simplified wireless security
With Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), you do not have to memorise complicated passwords and key them in several times.
Just
press the button on the side of the router, then click from within your
adapters utility software to make the pair automatically generate the
necessary wireless network name (SSID) and encryption keys. The PIN
method is also supported. WPS is a standard from the Wi-Fi Alliance so
any devices displaying the logo will work with each other, regardless
of the brand.
Works with Windows Vista logo
The
DIR-300 passed rigorous testing to achieve Microsoft® Windows Vistas
approval. This means that you will be able to take full advantage of
the new operating system functionalities, such as discovering and
managing devices with the Network Explorer and Network Map features in
Windows Vista. This automatically gives the router Xbox Live® service
compatibility. The router is also compatible with Nintendo Wi-Fi
Connection, and Playstation®Network.
